MANILA, Philippines — Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to run for senator on Wednesday.
Villar, together with his wife Justice Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar, filed his COC at the Sofitel Harbor Garden Tent in Pasay City at 9:06 a.m to formalize his bid for the Senate. He will be running under the Nationalista Party.
Villar was among the individuals included in the senatorial slate of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
On Monday, he formally announced his resignation from the DPWH effective Wednesday after over five years of assuming office.
