Ex-drug convict busted anew in Lucena

LUCENA CITY––A man convicted for drug charges in the past was arrested again in a buy-bust operation Tuesday morning in this city.

Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, reported that Bernard Velarde, 42, was collared at 7:14 a.m. after selling a pack of shabu (crystal meth) to an undercover cop in Barangay Dalahican.

Authorities confiscated five plastic sachets of shabu with a street value of P25,296.

A report tagged the suspect, who had been previously charged with a drug case, as included in the police drug watch list.

Reformed drug users in the coastal village identified Velarde as one of the suppliers of shabu to fisherfolk, pier workers, and other drug users in the area.

The suspect was detained and is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
