Alleged hazing victim identified by his family—police

MANILA, Philippines – An alleged hazing victim, a law student, has been identified by relatives, police said Tuesday.

Senior Police Officer 1 Carlo Tamundong said that Marvin Reglos, 25, a freshman from the San Beda College, was identified by his relatives who went to the Antipolo police station.

Reglos died over the weekend allegedly from injuries he sustained from hazing, police said.

Tamundong said the victim was rushed to the Unciano Medical Center by alleged members of the “Lamba” fraternity group identified as Erick Edrosolano Castillo, 28; and Bodjie Amorin Yap, 24, around 2 p.m. Sunday, but was declared dead on arrival.

Castillo and Yap were arrested the same day after they went back to the hospital, he said.

He said that authorities were still on the lookout for at least 18 more people involved in the hazing incident, which reportedly happened Saturday evening.

“Authorities believe that Reglos died of ‘hazing wounds’ based on severe bruises found all over the back of his body,” Tamundong said in Filipino.

He said that the suspects face charges of murder in relation to Republic Act 8049, or the anti-hazing law.
