LIGAO CITY—New faces with old names in Albay province’s third district have filed certificates of candidacy on Monday (Oct. 4).
Among these were former congressman Fernando Gonzalez, who is running for mayor of this city. He sat as representative from 2010 to 2019 and had been Albay governor from 2004 to 2007.
Gonzalez seeks to keep the House seat for the third district within the family as the incumbent mayor is his niece, Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua, who is now on her last term.
Albert Francis Bichara, son of Albay Gov. Al Francis Bichara, will run for councilor of this city.
Albay third district Rep. Fernando “Didi” Cabredo has also filed his COC for reelection.
In Polangui town, relatives of Albay second district Rep. Joey Salceda also filed their COCs—Adrian Salceda, nephew, for mayor; Juan Miguel, adopted son, for councilor and Jesap, brother, for board member.
All the candidates belonged to the National Union Party.
