LUCENA CITY – A 41-year-old man drowned Sunday morning while swimming in a beach resort here, a police report said.
Report said Rogelio Espinase, a utility aid and resident of this city, was dragged by the strong currents when he went for a swim at a resort in Barangay (village) Talao-Talao around 7 a.m.
The victim was rescued by personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard based in the area 20 minutes later.
Espinase was taken to Quezon Medical Center at the city center, some seven kilometers away, but died along the way.
