DOH reports 14,786 new COVID-19 cases, 164 deaths

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 14,786 additional COVID-19 cases on Saturday, raising the country’s total number of active cases to 144,061.

According to the DOH, the active cases compose 5.6 percent of the 2,580,173 total confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The DOH also reported 894 recoveries and 164 deaths. The country now has 2,397,456 recoveries or 92.9 percent of the tally, and 38,656 fatalities or 1.50 percent of all confirmed cases since the pandemic started.

On the positivity rate, 22.1 percent of 68,233 individuals who were tested were found positive for the coronavirus on Thursday.

The DOH said 73 percent of ICU beds, 61 percent of isolation beds, and 62 percent of ward beds in the country are now occupied. In Metro Manila, 75 percent of ICU beds, 51 percent of isolation beds, and 62 percent of ward beds are being used.

Only two testing laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System. The two laboratories contributed 0.12 percent of samples tested and 0.05 percent of positive individuals on average in the last 14 days.

Meanwhile, the DOH removed 100 duplicates, including 73 recoveries and one death, from the total case count. Ninety-one cases that were initially counted as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
