MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 cases are now at 130,268 as the Department of Health (DOH) reports 15,566 additional cases on Friday.

The active cases make up 5.1 percent of the total 2,565,487 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines since the pandemic began.

Meanwhile, the health department also logged 23,483 new recoveries, raising the number of patients who have survived the disease to 2,396,726, which represents 93.4 percent of the tally.

There were also 199 more deaths, taking the death toll to 38,493 or 1.50 percent of all the cases.

According to DOH, 21.3 percent of the 63,850 individuals who were tested were found positive on Wednesday for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID.

Five laboratories, which contributed 1.7 percent of samples tested and 2.4 percent of positive individuals on average in the last 14 days, were not able to submit their data to the DOH’s repository system.

Meanwhile, forty-five duplicates, including 33 recoveries, were removed from the total case count, while 102 cases that were initially counted as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after validation.
