On first day of COC filing, Robredo remains tight-lipped on 2022 plans
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo has yet to share her final decision on her plans for 2022, including her possible presidential run, her spokesperson said Friday as the filing for a certificate of candidacy for next year’s elections rolls out.
Atty. Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesperson, disclosed this as the Vice President transferred her voter registration from Naga City to Magarao town in Camarines Sur, once again prompting speculations about a possible gubernatorial run for Robredo.
Gutierrez, however, quashed the rumors and said that Robredo has yet to decide on her 2022 plans, adding that the transfer of voter registration does not mean the Vice President has already decided to run for Camarines Sur governor instead.
“She’s been very clear that insofar as the possibility of a gubernatorial run is concerned, that has to wait for a decision on ‘yung kaniyang pagtakbo for president [on her possible presidential run],” Gutierrez said in a statement.
According to Gutierrez, the transfer of voter registration was only “at the advice of her lawyers who wanted consistency” with her current actual residence.

She has said that among her considerations in a possible presidential run is to ensure that the Duterte government will be over and that the Marcos clan won’t return to the Malacanang.
The filing for the certificate of candidacy for those who will run in next year’s elections started Friday and will run until October 8.
