MCWD celebrates 37th anniversary

THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District turned 37 years old last Feb. 1.

With the theme “MCWD: Celebrating 37 years of service and care for community and Mother Earth,” the water district continues to be committed to provide quality water to its concessionaires while promoting programs aimed to protect the environment.

This year, four employees were given recognition for their 30 years of loyalty and support to the water district.

They are Edna Inocando, manager of the Corporate Communications Division of the Public Affairs Department;  Maria Teresa Cañete, senior corporate accounts analyst of the Accounting Department;  Arnulfo Ycong, plant equipment operator of the Production and Distribution Department and  Stephen Yee, manager of the General Services Department.

Employees who have been in the service for 25 years, 20 years, 15 years, 10 years and five years as well as those who were never tardy  for the whole year last year were also given recognition.

The eight employees who were sent to Cagayan de Oro to help distribute water to the victims of Typhoon Sendong were also given recognition during the anniversary party.

They were Nelson Cabingatan, Romeo Castañares, Allan Claros, Tomas Dinoy, Sidney Clark Mancao, Jovelito Nuñez, Bienvenido Perialde and Virgilio Rago.

They left for Cagayan de Oro with MCWD’s two water tanks two days before Christmas and stayed there until after New Year. They admitted it was sad celebrating the holidays away from home, but the fulfillment they felt for serving others was priceless.

During the program, in-house talents as well as Cebu’s pride in the Pilipinas Got Talent show, the Goldies and Goodies, entertained the members of the board of directors, management and employees who attended the party.
