IT’S A FEATHER in the cap for members of the Quezon City Police District Anti-Carnapping Unit (QCPD-Dacu) who arrested five suspected car thieves and recovered two stolen luxury sports utility vehicles (SUVs) over the weekend.
QCPD director Chief Supt. George Regis presented to the media two Mitsubishi Montero SUVs and the five suspects Tuesday. The cars were stolen last week.
On Saturday afternoon, a blue SUV was taken at gunpoint from Chairee and Louela Tiansing on Maginhawa Street in UP Village. It was retrieved an hour later by policemen in Parkway Village, Barangay Apolonio Samson, after it was spotted being driven by residents Joey Villanueva and Jonathan Rodriguez.
The two pointed to a Francis Briones who, they said, had instructed them to drive the car.
Briones, who was nabbed in a restaurant on Tomas Morato Street, told police that they had just delivered a red Mitsubishi Montero, stolen from Cecilia Manalastas-Manasan in front of her house in Barangay Maharlika, to Alexander Emmanuel Aquino and Rommel Flores at Ina Executive Homes in Parañaque City.
The QCPD-Dacu and the Southern Police District on Sunday arrested Aquino and Flores along San Antonio Avenue in Parañaque City.
