Man mistakenly hands 28 packs of ‘shabu’ to laborer

A SUSPECTED drug courier mistakenly handed 28 small packs believed to contain shabu  to a laborer in barangay Maya, Daan Bantayan, northern Cebu, last Sunday afternoon.

Cebu Daily News is withholding the name of the laborer for security reasons.

Police said that based on witnesses’ accounts, Mark Anthony “Mac-Mac” Codilla, resident of the barangay, was at the Maya Wharf at 2:40 p.m. looking for a certain Alex.

Police said Codilla, 21,  mistakenly handed  a rolled paper to the laborer and left.

Out of curiosity, the laborer opened the rolled paper  and was surprised to discover the 28 small packs of  suspected shabu.

The laborer immediately reported the incident to the Maya barangay hall.

Maya barangay captain Ali Abucay coordinated with the Daan Bantayan police station and turned over the suspected drugs.

Policemen went to  Codilla’s house but he already fled.

Police said they suspected Codilla was in the wharf to transport the  shabu to another island.
