2 boys drown in Leyte town river
CEBU CITY – Two boys drowned in a river in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Barugo town, Leyte last Saturday, Sept. 25.
Capt. Luis Hatton, chief of the Barugo Police Station, identified the fatalities as Jerson Dave Villafores, 7, and Kier Paradero, 8.
Initial investigation conducted by the local police disclosed that the two children went to the river to swim with their 10-year-old neighbor.
Villafores and Paradero reportedly ran towards the center of the river, not knowing that the river was already deep because of sand and gravel extraction.
Local rescue groups arrived in the area to revive the two boys but to no avail.
