Armed man nabbed
POLICE yesterday seized high-powered firearms from a man after they received a report of an armed person in Sanciangko Street, Cebu City.
Arnel “Budlat” Ansa, 34, was arrested after a brief shoot-out with police.
No one was injured in the shoot-out.
Police recovered from the suspect two KG-9 submachine pistols, magazine, .45 pistol, other ammunition, cameras and drug-sniffing paraphernalia.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) said he believed Ansa belonged to a gun-for-hire group.
In an interview, Ansa denied the charges saying the firearms and drug paraphernalia belonged to a friend, whom he refused to identify./correspondent chito aragon
Stabbing in lapu
A 31-YEAR-OLD carpenter was stabbed and wounded by his neighbor after he tried to pacify an altercation between his girlfriend and the suspect during a drinking session in barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City Sunday night.
Rodrigo Martinez of sitio Cambiohan was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital for a stab wound in the back.
Police investigation revealed that the victim together with his girlfriend and relatives had a drinking session in sitio Ilaya when the suspect Marcial Andales, 39, arrived.
Police said the the suspect and Martinez’s girlfriend argued.
