COVID-19 curfew violator yields P55k shabu in Quezon

LUCENA CITY––Police seized over P55,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) from a suspect apprehended for violating the COVID-19 curfew in Tiaong town in Quezon province early Wednesday.

The Quezon police said, in a report, that patrolling police flagged down a motorcycle driven by Gadwin Mendoza with back-rider Renato Isaga in Barangay Talisay at 3:10 a.m.

When Isaga stepped down from the motorcycle, he dropped a hand towel that reportedly contained three plastic sachets of shabu worth P55,216 in the street market.

Driver Mendoza managed to maneuver the motorcycle and sped off before the police could question him. He is now the subject of a police hunt.

Meanwhile, Isaga was detained and is facing criminal charges.

Authorities have been imposing a 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew as the locality remained under the general community quarantine with heightened restrictions.
