CA gives nod to Navy inspector general, 23 AFP officers

The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the nominations and the ad interim appointments of 24 senior officers of the AFP.

MANILA, Philippines —The Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the nominations and the ad interim appointments of 24 senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In a hearing before the CA’s plenary session, its Committee on National Defense swiftly recommended the approval of the ad interim appointments and nominations of the military officers, including Rear Admiral Rommel Anthony Reyes, the current Naval Inspector General of the Philippine Navy.

In facing the CA committee, Reyes said the AFP officers up for confirmation have served a total of 690 years in the military.

Reyes, for his part, has been in the military service for 36 years.

Maj. General Fernando Felipe, the commander of the Army Reserve Command, was also among the senior officers that was confirmed by the CA.

Felipe previously served as the commander of the AFP Munitions Control Center.

“I am strongly endorsing the appointment of these officers with unquestionable courage, integrity and loyalty to the Filipino nation and the Filipino people,” said Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, vice chairman of the CA committee.
