Drug suspect slain in Nueva Ecija buy-bust
SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija—An alleged drug trader was killed, while his companion escaped during a buy-bust operation at dawn Tuesday, Sept. 28, in this city, police said.
Col. Rhoderick Campo, Nueva Ecija police director, identified the fatality as Jaymar dela Cruz, of Encarnacion Subdivision, Barangay Sto. Niño 1st, this city.
Campo said the suspect engaged the lawmen in a shootout during the sting operation around 2 a.m. at Zone 5, in Barangay Sto. Tomas in this city.
Dela Cruz’s unidentified cohort, who also fired a handgun, escaped aboard a black motorcycle, the police said.
Investigators recovered from the scene a .38-caliber revolver, five grams of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P35,000, and the marked money.
