Soldier dies from drowning in Eastern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY––A soldier died Sunday evening after drowning in a river in Oras town, Eastern Samar.

The Oras municipal police station reported that Private First Class Mark Anthony Castillo, 29, went to the river in Barangay Batang to practice swimming. Castillo was a member of the 52nd Infantry Battalion.

He was later found dead by residents of the place.

Castillo was brought to the Oras Doctors Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The remains of Castillo was brought to 52nd Infantry Battalion headquarter in Barangay Dao, also in Oras, while waiting for his family to claim his body.
