MMDA sees 90% of NCR’s eligible population fully vaccinated vs COVID-19 by December 26
MANILA, Philippines — Close to 9 million residents or 90 percent of Metro Manila’s eligible population are expected to complete their COVID-19 vaccination by December, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Benhur Abalos said Monday.
As of September 26, 2021, Abalos said 7,119,728 individuals or 72.65 percent of the region’s 9.8 million eligible population have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Ang tantsa namin, by October 26, magiging 8 million na ang two doses ng Metro Manila which is about 82 percent. Once we reach December 26, it will be 90 percent,” Abalos said in a televised briefing.

Data presented by Abalos showed that 8,065,415 are expected to be fully vaccinated in Metro Manila by October 26 while 8,906,310 will be fully vaccinated by December 26.
“Tingin namin, itong pagbabakuna ay ang malaking bagay na naka-avoid ng critical, severe at death. Malaking factor ito,” Abalos said.
(We think that our vaccinations have played a huge part in avoiding critical and severe cases, and death. It’s a big factor.)
Nationwide, over 19 million are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
