MANILA, Philippines — Hot and humid weather, with partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers will prevail over most parts of the country on Monday due to localized thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.
In its early morning forecast, Pagasa said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers are expected by afternoon or evening.
Meanwhile, Pagasa is still monitoring Typhoon Mindulle which is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday morning.
“Hindi po inaasahan na makakaapekto itong bagyo sa atin sa Pilipinas. Bagamat, ‘yung kanyang windfield medyo malaki. ‘Yung kanyang trough or extension ay umaabot dito sa may bahagi ng Bicol region at Eastern Visayas,” Pagasa weather specialist Ariel Rojas said.
(We do not expect the typhoon to affect the Philippines. However, it has quite a big windfield. Its trough or extension reaches Bicol region and Eastern Visayas.)
Pagasa added that once Mindulle enters the PAR, it will be given a local name of Lannie.
Mindulle was spotted at 1,600 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon as of 3 a.m. Monday.
It has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
Pagasa warned fisherfolk in the eastern seaboards of moderate to rough sea conditions.
