Interior Secretary Eduardo Año gave the assurance on Sunday that persons deprived of liberty (PDL) have been included in the national vaccination program and were not being treated as “second class citizens.” Año said that 35 percent of 122,498 PDLs in 467 Bureau of Jail Management and Penology detention facilities nationwide have been given jabs against COVID-19. Año said that as of Sept. 13, a total of 42,493 PDLs have been inoculated. Of this number, 27,951 got their first dose; 7,473 their second dose; while 7,069 received single-dose vaccines. “All in all, 14,542 PDLs already have complete doses and have full protection against COVID-19,” he said.
