PH logs 16,907 new COVID-19 cases, total now at 2,470,235
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 16,907 new COVID-19 cases to bring the country’s caseload to 2,470,235.
Of the total number of cases, 6.7 percent or 165,110 are tagged as “active,” with most having mild or no symptoms at 94.6 percent.
There were also 27,121 new recoveries reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,267,720 or 91.8 percent of the cases.
Meanwhile, there are no new COVID-19 deaths reported for two consecutive days now due to technical issues.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll remains at 37,405.
Article continues after this advertisement“No deaths were reported today due to technical issues in COVIDKaya,” the DOH said, referring to the platform which stores data from all confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Article continues after this advertisementThe DOH said the Department of Information and Communications Technology is currently addressing the issues affecting COVIDKaya.
“When the issue is resolved, the succeeding increase in deaths in the following reports will be due to the previous days’ backlogs,” they added.
Meanwhile, the latest data from the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 tracker reported that the Philippines is only behind Indonesia in terms of COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia with 4,204,116 cases.
As of posting, the COVID-19 global case count is now at 231.2 million including 4.7 million deaths, according to the tracker.
