A senior Army officer assigned to Mindanao will take over as head of the military panel that officially coordinates with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) regarding law enforcement operations.
Brig. Gen. Roland Amarille will sit as chair of the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group, a bilateral committee through which government security officials coordinate with MILF leaders on law enforcement matters to avoid misencounters.
He replaced Brig. Gen. Allan Luga, who was appointed commander of the Army’s 7th Infantry Division.
Amarille was assistant commander of the 1st Infantry Division based in Zamboanga del Sur. He was also commander of Task Force Makalintad, where he was at the forefront of disaster response and relief operations when Tropical Storm “Sendong” hit Mindanao. Dona Z. Pazzibugan
