TUGUEGARAO CITY—The province of Kalinga has recorded 170 new COVID-19 cases, its highest so far, according to the provincial epidemiology and surveillance unit on Friday (Sept. 24).
Most of the cases were registered in Tabuk City and the towns of Pinukpuk, Rizal, Tanudan, Balbalan and Pasil.
In a statement, Gov. Ferdinand Tubban again asked residents to heed minimum health protocols to prevent the spread of SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, and its variants.
Due to rising infections, the provincial inter-agency task force has been closely monitoring the situation in different hospitals and infirmaries that treat COVID-19 patients in the province.
Kalinga’s health facilities had started to reach maximum capacity early this week, posting 94-percent COVID bed occupancy rate on Monday (Sept. 21).
The province recorded 7,210 COVID-19 cases since 2020. At least 6,081 of these had recovered while 151 had died.
