Bacolod public school enrollment exceeds target

BACOLOD CITY—Enrollment in this city’s public schools has hit 102.3 percent for the school year 2021 to 2022, according to the city’s schools superintendent.
Gladys Amylaine Dechavez Sales, Bacolod schools superintendent, on Thursday (Sept. 23) said enrollment from kindergarten to Grade 12 was 117,710 compared to 115,084 last year.
“The enrollment increased by 2.3 percent. We exceeded the target,” she said.
Sales said many learners from private schools transferred to public schools where education is free.
