CITY OF MALOLOS—At least 1,000 workers from the construction and manufacturing sectors in Bulacan province were vaccinated against COVID-19 under the National Employment Recovery Strategy (NERS) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Thursday, Sept. 23.

DOLE Undersecretary Benjo Benavidez said the vaccine recipients belonged to the first batch of workers in Bulacan’s construction industry, targeted for the mass vaccination as part of the NERS, the government’s master plan for the restoration of the country’s labor market.

A total of 10,000 laborers in Bulacan are to be vaccinated until the end of the year, said Benavidez during the vaccine rollout.

Gov. Daniel Fernando, who received the vaccine supply from Benavidez and other DOLE officials, said this would ensure uninterrupted work and income for the vaccinated workers.
