Cops seize abandoned illegal logs in Oriental Mindoro town

CITY OF CALAPAN––Police seized Tuesday abandoned illegal mahogany logs in Mansalay town in Oriental Mindoro province, according to a report from Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police Wednesday.

A report said the local police received information about an ongoing illegal logging activity at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Teresita.

Responding police saw several men working around the alleged illegally sawn logs.

The suspects, identified as Yoyoy Talon and Romnick Oriendo, farmers and residents in the village, escaped and abandoned the logs when they saw the approaching policemen.

Police are pursuing the suspects who will be charged for violation of the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.
