MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring cloudy skies and rains to the Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region, Western Viasayas and parts of Western Mindanao (Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-tawi) on Wednesday, the state weather service reported.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its early morning update, said that the LPA was spotted at 3 a.m. some 205 kilometers east northeast of Pagasa Island in Palawan and has a slim chance of intensifying.
“Dahil sa pinagsamang epekto ng LPA at ITCZ, asahan sa rehiyon ng Mimaropa ang maulap na kalangitan sa halos buong araw, sasamahan din ito ng mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan,” senior weather specialist Benison Estareja said during a public weather forecast.
(Due to combined effects of LPA and ITCZ, cloudy skies along with scattered rains are expected on the Mimaropa region.)
“Sa mga kababayan natin sa Western Visayas, asahan din ang maulap na kalangitan. Sa Mindanao naman po pinaka-apektado ng ITCZ ang Zamboanga Peninsula, gayundin ang Basilan, Sulu at Tawi-tawi.
(Western Visayas will have cloudy skies, while in Mindanao, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi will experience the effects of the ITCZ.)
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience fair weather, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies, although there are still chances of rain showers and thunderstorms.
Pagasa did not raise gale warnings nationwide.
