The Inquirer Foundation has announced its partnership with the Ateneo Center for Educational Development’s (Aced) Fight Against Hunger in support of its ongoing efforts to address the impact of food insecurity in the country.

The program aims to distribute weekly food packs, consisting largely of vegetables and nutritious food to alleviate hunger, prevent malnutrition and look after the brain development of children.

On the third week of September, the Inquirer Foundation through Aced was able to start providing food packs for 70 students of Old Balara Elementary School (Obes) and their families through the project. The support will continue until July 2022.

“The Ateneo Center for Educational Development is deeply grateful to the Inquirer Foundation Corp. for the opportunity to work together for the benefit of the school children in Old Balara Elementary School. Education is key to a better future but unfortunately, for children facing very challenging life circumstances, concentrating on the lessons is not a simple task,” said Carmela Oracion, managing director of Aced.

‘Critical factor’

“Nourishment is a critical factor for well-being and brain development and the weekly food packs for the children from the Inquirer Foundation Corp. is a big help. Through this gift we are hopeful that the children from Obes will be able to study well now, complete their studies in due time, and have a bright future,” Oracion said.

Aced started in June 2021 and has been working with different partner organizations and individuals toward its goal of bringing food packs to 10,000 children and their families. For P90, anyone can help a child and his or her family for a week.

Interested donors may choose to donate P90 for one family for one week, P360 for one family for one month or P3,600 for one family for ten months. For other information and details, donors may email [email protected] or send a message through viber 0918-9171339.
