MANILA, Philippines — The killing of a mayoralty also-ran in Abra has raised the intensity of the Philippine National Police’s campaign against loose firearms and private armies.
Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the PNP, said on Monday that Saturday’s murder of Amor Trina Dait, a resident doctor of La Paz District Hospital, has promted the police to further enhance its drive against hot guns and goons ahead of next year’s polls.
