Investigators coordinate with kin of slain broadcaster Romeo Olea
MANILA, Philippines – A special investigation task group assigned to solve the case involving the death of radio commentator Romeo Olea has coordinated with his family, with wife Rachel turning over a cassette recorder containing the broadcaster’s earlier programs, a spokesman for the Philippine National Police said Tuesday.
A team from the Iriga City Police Station has been placed on duty at Olea’s residence in San Miguel, Iriga City, Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said in a text message.
At the same time, the National Bureau of Investigation in Iriga City has been asked to conduct an autopsy on the body of Olea, Cruz said.
Police Senior Superintendent Victor Leona, deputy regional director for Administration Region 5, presided over a command conference in Iriga City, said Cruz.
Meanwhile, the recovered empty shells from the shooting incident were turned over to Camarines Sur PNP Crime Lab. A follow-up investigation is still ongoing, Cruz said.
Olea’s body lies at St. Lawrence Funeral Parlor, Buluang, Baao, Camarines Sur.
