Olongapo City hits another all-time high active COVID-19 cases
OLONGAPO CITY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city rose to 836 (Sept. 19), its all-time high, local data showed.
The increase was due to additional 41 new infections recorded on the same day, which also raised to 4,835 the city’s total infections since last year.
According to the local task force, a 7-month-old baby boy was the youngest among the new cases from Barangay Sta. Rita. The oldest was an 80-year-old man from Barangay East Bajac-Bajac.
The city’s COVID19 death toll still stood at 235, with no new deaths on Sunday.
On Sept. 17, the city recorded its second-highest number of active COVID-19 cases at 833.
According to health officials, the turnover rate of COVID-19 patients at the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, the city’s main COVID-19 facility, has started to go high since the molecular laboratory here was opened last week.
The facility helps the hospital determine if patients with COVID-19 are infected.
