BACOLOD CITY––At least 11 residents of Toboso town in Negros Occidental died of COVID-19 from Sept. 5 to 19.
All were unvaccinated.
Mayor Richard Jaojoco warned Sunday Toboso residents against mass gatherings amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the town.
Jaojoco said foot patrol personnel have been tasked to ensure that people at the market go home immediately after purchasing their goods and not linger in the area to reduce their chances of being infected with COVID-19.
He also appealed to the public to comply with minimum health protocols.
Jaojoco said they received reports of basketball games and illegal cockfighting being held in the town.
Toboso has 40 COVID-19 cases in September.
