Doctor shot dead in Abra
BAGUIO CITY — A doctor died while being treated at the Abra Provincial Hospital (APH) moments after being shot by an unknown assailant on Saturday, September 18, in Pilar town in Abra province, police said in a report Sunday.
Pilar police said Dr. Amor Trina Dait, a resident of Barangay (village) Poblacion and who was working at the La Paz District Hospital in La Paz, also in Abra, was attacked in her own home at around 7:30 p.m.
The report said police personnel in a nearby station heard gunshots from Dait’s house which is 600 meters away. The policemen responded immediately and found the doctor who sustained bullet wounds on her left foot.
Police officers took the victim to the hospital but she later died.
In a follow-up investigation, the police recovered five M16 rifle shells at the crime scene.

Dait ran for Pilar mayor during the 2019 elections which also saw her campaign leader being shot dead.
