MANILA, Philippines — A man was shot dead in Barangay Bagong Silang, Caloocan City at midnight on Saturday, according to the Northern Police District (NPD).

The victim, identified as Julius Binuya, 44, was sitting on a plastic chair in an alley near Aratiles Street in Phase 3, Bagong Silang, when he was shot by three unidentified gunmen, according to a report by NPD Investigator Cpl. Bayani Auditor Jr.

The incident was reported to police at around 12:20 a.m, Cpl. Francis Bryan Sagmaquen of the Caloocan City Police Sub Station 13 told INQUIRER.net.

Police said Binuya was killed instantly. It is not yet clear how many times was the victim shot,  Sagmaquen said.

Auditor said eight spent shells and three deformed slugs were recovered from the crime scene.

The victim’s body is now in the care of a funeral parlor after members of the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) finished their examination of the crime scene at around 1:40 am.

Auditor told INQUIRER.net that witnesses have yet to come forward.

Personnel of the Police Sub Station 13 are now conducting a follow-up operation to track down the suspects, said Auditor.
