961,000 Moderna vax doses arrive in PH; Sinovac, Pfizer vax doses to follow

MANILA, Philippines — More than 960,000 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the country on Saturday with the arrival of more vaccine shipments expected on the same day.
The shipment containing the vaccines landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) past 3 p.m., according to the National Taskforce (NTF) Against COVID-19.
Ted Herbosa, a special advisor for NTF, said of the total number of Moderna vaccine doses, 700,000 were procured by the national government, with the rest procured by the private sector.
Herbosa said the delivered vaccine doses will mostly be distributed to areas outside the National Capital Region (NCR).
“Small portion still goes to NCR, yung mga second doses ng Moderna nila (their second doses of the Moderna vaccine), and then the majority will go to Region 3 and Region 4A. And then also, this one, will also go to Visayas, Cebu and Mindanao as well,” Herbosa said during an interview after the arrival.
The NTF said another 3 million doses of the government-procured Sinovac vaccine will arrive at the NAIA Terminal 2 around 5:55 p.m., while 2,020,590 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive at the NAIA Terminal 3 at 11:30 p.m.
