8 hurt in Maguindanao volleyball game explosion
CAMP SIONGO, Maguindanao — At least eight persons who were watching a volleyball game in Datu Piang town, Maguindanao province were hurt when an explosive went off on Saturday (Sept. 18).
Lt. Colonel John Paul Baldomar, the spokesman for the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said an initial investigation showed that a grenade was lobbed in the middle of the spectators.
But police and Army bomb experts are also looking at the possibility that the suspects used a phone-triggered improvised explosive device.
The blast occurred at about 3 p.m. in the Datu Piang municipal covered court located at the town center.
Authorities are still determining the motive behind the attack.
