The number of deaths also slowed down to only 43 from 1,207 on September 10 to 1,250 on September 17.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries was at 3,294 from September 11 to 17, raising the total number of recoveries to 62,960 from 59,666.

Bulacan’s vaccination drive also reached about 50 percent of its close to 2.7 million target population to achieve herd immunity with 1,218,070 residents vaccinated as of September 15, according to COVID-19 Task Force vice-chair Dr. Hjordis Marushka Celis. The nearly 2.7 population is 70 percent of the 3.8 million total population of the province.

Celis said that of the vaccinated residents, 700,155 received their first dose and 517,915 have complete their two doses.

Celis, in a Zoom meeting, with Bulacan COVID-19 Task Force chair Governor Daniel Fernando, said a steady slow decrease was observed in the past more than two weeks and they now aim to speed up the decrease.

Fernando urged residents to be more vigilant by avoiding gatherings and just focus on observing health protocols and keeping themselves healthy.

Fernando credited the improvements in the COVID-19 figures of Bulacan to the imposition of the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) restriction in the province which will be enforced until September 30.
