MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

According to Pagasa, the ITCZ continues to affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The ITCZ is where winds coming from the northern and southern hemisphere converge, bringing clouds that cause rains in affected areas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms, said Pagasa.

With only the ITCZ currently affecting the country’s weather, Pagasa weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said that no tropical cyclones may occur within the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days.

“For the next three to five days, for now, wala po tayong nakikitang namumuong sama ng panahon o LPA na maaaring makaapekto sa ating bansa,” he said in a weather forecast.

(For the next three to five days, for now, we don’t see any weather disturbance or LPA that could affect the country.)
