27 more COVID-19 deaths logged in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY—Ilocos Norte recorded Thursday at least 27 new COVID-19 deaths, data from the provincial government showed.

These brought the total COVID-19 deaths in the province to 280 since the pandemic began last year.

Of the 27 deaths, 20 are from Batac City, and the others from the towns of Baccara (1), Piddig (1), Banna (1), Nueva Era (1), and San Nicolas (3).

Virus transmission has been slowing in the past weeks with 112.1 average weekly COVID-19 cases recorded from Sept. 3 to 10 compared to the 210.3 cases from Aug. 20 to 27, the same data showed.

The province has tallied 17,128 COVID-19 cases, including 1,626 active and 15,222 recoveries.
