Over 600k more AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines received Friday an additional 661,200 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine procured by the private sector via a tripartite deal with the national government.

The vaccine shipment carried by a China Airlines flight arrived past 9:20 a.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, as shown on a livestream by state-run PTV.

The AstraZeneca vaccines were welcomed by the National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. and presidential adviser for entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion.

With the arrival of these jabs, the country has now received over 58.2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses since February.

The Philippines is also expecting 1 million doses of the single-shot Sputnik V Light and 190,000 doses of Sputnik V’s Component 2 this month.

Meanwhile, over 17 million persons have so far been fully vaccinated in the country.
