Aurora logs 2nd highest single-day COVID-19 tally in 3 months

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The province of Aurora recorded 49 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday (Sept. 15), its second highest single-day tally in the last three months, data from the provincial emergency operations center showed.

The coastal province registered its highest daily tally since mid-June this year on Sept. 12 with 56 new cases.

Aurora also recorded 23 recoveries and four deaths on Wednesday. Two of the fatalities were residents of Dinalungan and the other two were from Baler and Maria Aurora towns.

Twenty-four of the new cases are from the capital town of Baler, 10 from Maria Aurora, five from Dipaculao, three each from Casiguran and Dinalungan, two from Dilasag, and one each from Dingalan and San Luis.

Baler has the most active cases at 60, followed by Maria Aurora with 60, and Dingalan with 30.

The province has 221 active cases as of Wednesday.

Since the pandemic broke out last year, Aurora has registered 2,488 total COVID-19 cases, of which 2,157 have recovered while 110 have died.
