MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) near Eastern Visayas will continue to bring rain in Palawan, Bicol Region, the Visayas and parts of Mindanao on Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its bulletin Thursday.

According to Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren, the LPA was last spotted 150 kilometers east southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

“Nanatili pong mababa ang tiyansa na ito ay magiging bagyo, ngunit nakikita natin na ngayong gabi hanggang mamayang madaling araw ay tatawirin po nito itong kabisayaan,” said Clauren

(The chances remain low that it will become a typhoon, but we see that it will cross Visayas tonight until the early morning.)

Meanwhile, generally fair weather is still expected to prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon but isolated rain showers should still be expected during the afternoon until night time due to localized thunderstorms.

On the other hand, the entire Visayas, as well as the Caraga Region and Northern Mindanao, will experience cloudy weather due to the LPA and the effects of the lingering intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ)

“Sa nalalabing bahagi naman ng Mindanao ay asahan natin ang maaliwalas na panahon ngunit may mga pagulan pa rin tayong inaasahan sa hapon at gabi,” said Clauren.

(While in the rest of Mindanao we can expect clear weather but continue to expect rain in the afternoon and evening.)

  • Forecast temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa:
  • Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 16 to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City:  25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 24 to 35 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 20 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 25 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 26 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is raised even amid the LPA and effects of the ITCZ,  as only slight to moderate sea conditions are expected over the country’s seaboards.
