BACOLOD CITY—Eight members of a family in Barangay Banago in this city tested positive for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Two had died already, the Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported on Wednesday (Sept. 15).
Both fatalities were unvaccinated, the EOC said in a press statement.
Contact tracing data showed that the first family member, who contracted the virus, was the 39-year-old son, an event organizer, who died last Sept. 1.
He had fever, cough, and colds as early as Aug. 25 and tested positive for the virus.
His death was followed by that of his 35-year-old brother last Sept. 11.
Their 68-year-old father, who also tested positive, had only mild symptoms. He was vaccinated.
The only family member who tested negative for was their 75-year-old mother, who was also vaccinated.
From Sept. 1 to 16, a total of 57 individuals in Bacolod died of COVID-19.
Of the number, 51 were not vaccinated, three had a single vaccine does while three were fully vaccinated.
EOC said these figures showed that vaccinated individuals have a lower chance of having severe or critical condition after getting sick with COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated people.
As of Sept. 15, Bacolod City posted a total of 1,508 active cases of COVID-19, according to the Department of Health.
