MANILA, Philippines — The Makati City government has placed a street in Barangay Tejeros under a two-week granular lockdown after eight residents tested positive for COVID-19.
Makati Mayor Abigail Binay said H. Santos St. is under lockdown effective 12:01 a.m. Thursday, September 16.
“I ordered the granular lockdown after noting an increase in the number of COVID-positive cases in the said area. We need to contain the infection by promptly identifying, isolating, and treating infected residents,” Binay said in a statement.

The eight COVID-19 positive patients have 25 close contacts, according to the local government.
Binay said the city will deploy swab teams to conduct house-to-house RT-PCR tests. To be given priority are patients with symptoms. The teams will also conduct a contact tracing of those who were in close contact with the infected.
Binay added that the city government has ready food packs and other essential items, including home care kits for those who will test positive in the COVID-19 tests.
Those who have COVID-19 symptoms could call the Makati CESU at 8870-1442, 8870-1444, 8870-1447, and 8870-1448.
Metro Manila is now on Alert Level 4 until Sept. 30 as part of the pilot testing of the granular lockdowns.
