Motorcycle driver dead, pillion rider hurt in Quezon accident

LUCENA CITY A motorcycle rider died and his pillion rider was injured in an accident along the Maharlika Highway in the town of Atimonan, Quezon province, early Thursday.

The Atimonan police reported that a motorcycle driven by Russel Rojo accidentally hit the concrete barrier on the side of the road in Barangay Talaba at around 12:05 a.m.

Rojo and his pillion rider, Jupeter Amores, were thrown off their vehicle but Rojo’s head slammed into one of the concrete barriers.

The riders were rushed by rescuers to the Doña Marta Memorial District Hospital at the town proper but Rojo died along the way from fatal injuries.

The report did not state whether or not the fatality was wearing a crash helmet.

Amores was confined at the hospital for further treatment.INQ
