29 residents, gov’t workers in Subic Freeport contract COVID-19

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT—At least 21 residents and eight government workers here have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two days, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) said Wednesday, Sept. 15.

The youngest among the infected residents are two 8-year-old boys who were exposed to their relatives and both showed no symptoms of the disease. Also infected are two elderly residents aged 65 and 66.

All of the eight virus-infected SBMA employees were home-quarantined and most of them were infected by close contacts, such as relatives.

So far, the free port still has at least 82 active COVID-19 cases out of the 506 infections recorded since last year. It also logged eight deaths.
