Quezon logs record-high of 307 new COVID-19 cases in one day
LUCENA CITY – Quezon province logged a record-high 307 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the highest single-day tally since the pandemic began in March last year, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) said.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin issued on September 14, IPHO showed that Sariaya town has the most number of new cases with 48, followed by Tayabas City with 43, and Candelaria, 34.
The province also recorded 363 recoveries, likewise a record-high.
The COVID-19 death toll in Quezon rose to 1,108, as 19 more deaths were recorded on Tuesday. Sariaya town also topped the list with eight fatalities.
Incidentally, Sariaya, located in the central part of the province celebrated its town fiesta on Tuesday.
Article continues after this advertisementSince August 26, the local government has been imposing a videoke session and liquor ban until September 30.
“Mass gatherings, either planned or spontaneous shall be prohibited during this period,” Mayor Marcelo Gayeta said in his order issued on August 24.
