LAOAG CITY—At least 50 percent of eligible tourism workers in La Union province have been vaccinated for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, according to the provincial government on Tuesday (Sept. 14).
Since the rollout started on Aug. 17, at least 1,806 of 3,581 tourism workers had received vaccines, the provincial government said.
The vaccination drive among tourism workers was seen as a way to help economic recovery in the province that relies heavily on tourism income.
San Juan town, which is one of the top tourist drawers in the province, was among the first local government units in La Union to start inoculating its tourism workers.
Protocol allows tourists from areas on modified general community quarantine, the least restrictive form of lockdown, to visit the province but requires them to present negative RT-PCR coronavirus tests taken 72 hours before travel.
