Fair weather in Luzon, Visayas; cloudy, rain in E. Visayas and Mindanao – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather is expected in Luzon and most of the Visayas on Wednesday, while rain will fall on Eastern Visayas and Mindanao due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Generally fair ang panahon sa buong Luzon, magiging mainit ang tanghali pero may tiyansa ng pulo-pulong pagulan o thunderstorms bandang hapon hanggang sa gabi,” said Pagasa weather specialist Joey Figuracion.

(Generally, fair weather is expected throughout Luzon. It will be hot at noon, but there is a chance of rain or thunderstorms in the afternoon until evening.)

The same weather will likewise prevail in the Western and Central parts of Visayas, including the possible formation of thunderstorms during the afternoon through evening.

“Samantala sa Eastern Visayas at buong Mindanao bukas, asahan ang epekto ng ITCZ at magdadala pa rin ‘yan ng kalat-kalat na pagulan ng pagkidlat at pagkulog,” Figuracion said.

(The Eastern Visayas and the entire Mindanao, on the other hand, will experience the effects of the ITCZ as it brings widespread rain, lightning and thunder.)

Meanwhile, no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the next 24 to 48 hours. However, Figuracion warned that a low-pressure area might form in the East of Visayas and Mindanao by Thursday or Friday.

“Nakapaloob ‘yan sa ITCZ sa mga susunod na araw, at maghahatid ‘yan ng pag-ulan diyan sa Visayas at sa Mindanao,” he said.

(That will be inside the ITCZ in the coming days, and it will bring rain in Visayas and Mindanao.)
