SAN FERNANDO, La Union — The municipality of Bauang in this province has deferred its COVID-19 vaccination drive this week as members of its inoculation team were found positive for the virus.

In an advisory posted on Facebook, the municipality said scheduled vaccination from September 13-17 would not push through due to a lack of manpower since vaccination staff and their close contacts undergo quarantine.

The local government also said the suspension of the vaccination rollout was “until further notice” although noting that inoculation activities “will resume as soon as enough manpower is available.”

For people supposed to get their second dose, the municipality said they would be notified two days before their schedule. As for those who received their first dose of Sputnik V last July 24 and 26, it said that “there is no allocation yet for the municipality” and that they would also be notified two days prior to their schedule once the vaccine becomes available.

As of September 13, the municipality of Bauang has 114 active cases, 1,324 recoveries, and 47 deaths. Marian Feliz Calica
